"A time-lapse composition featuring the creation of a large, ink-brush Chinese calligraphy tattoo piece that extends from the clients' ribs to mid-thigh. Although taking days to create and refine the brush characters themselves, the entire artwork was completed in a single sitting over one afternoon. As each piece is created and used for the one client, never to be repeated, we apologize that we are unable to publicly release the meanings or translations of the writing. In the Chinese calligraphy tradition there are close to twenty disparate or unique writing styles or schools, each developed throughout different periods over the art forms' history. Comparable to say highly stylized cursive script or modern-day English with Shakespearean prose, even those fluent in Chinese may not be able to discern the full meaning without having studied calligraphy themselves. A number of clients prefer this more subtle dedication whereas the artwork can be appreciated on two levels; the movement and life in the painting itself and then further, to those who are able to understand the writing, the meaning that these convey.
